Phil Mickelson Leaves Tour after Wife Diagnosed with Breast Cancer
Phil Mickelson’s wife, Amy, has been diagnosed with breast cancer after undergoing an extensive battery of tests, according to a statement posted on Mickelson's Web site (www.PhilMickelson.com) today.
“More tests are scheduled but the treatment process is expected to begin with major surgery, possibly within the next two weeks,” the release stated.
Mickelson, the No. 2 golfer in the World, is suspending his tournament schedule “indefinitely.” He was scheduled to play in the HP Byron Nelson Championship beginning tomorrow and defend his Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial title next week.
The Mickelson’s, who married in 1996, have three children ages six, seven and nine.
